A fever is not a disease, but a healthy coping mechanism the body uses to combat infection. For instance, viruses cannot multiply at temperatures between 100¡F and 102¡F (38_39¡C). Anything over 100¡F is considered a fever, but temperatures below 100¡F are not normally serious.
